 And here was me, thinking that the witch processes were all over and done with... How will this inflict kitchen herb sales, for instance?

If the wording would include things like bottled water, blueberries, dandelion greens then it could probably cover Basil, Thyme, Oregano, etc cooking herbs have all been used for thousands of years as medicines or supplements.

It is pretty much like the witch hunts since those were also started by the medical establishment of that time period.

    That is simply ridiculous o_O
"C-51 would even criminalize the simple drying of herbs in your kitchen to be used in an herbal product, by the way. That would now be categorized as a "controlled activity," and anyone caught engaging in such "controlled activities" would be arrested, fined and potentially jailed. Other "controlled activities" include labeling bottles, harvesting plants on a farm, collecting herbs from your back yard, or even testing herbal products on yourself!"
    Jeeeez......

It is scary indeed. I always thought the U.S. should be more like Canada in providing health care to our citizens to make it more affordable. So many here can't afford health care for their families, and my husband (a small business owner) has a hard time providing coverage to his employees. Maybe that's why Canada is doing this, as many U.S. citizens are buying their drugs in Canada at less than 1/2 the cost of what it is here???

This is down right crazy and scary. To think making a cup of chamomile tea can land you in jail or with a fine. OMG! As a person who truly believes in the natural benifits of herbs, I would be devestated if i lived there. Blueberries,,,,,

I just have no words to say how I feel about this....

Since the article was published in April of 2008, I think that Canada is still safe for those who grow and use herbs. The source of the article is not exactly disinterested, either.
Scare tactics. I think I'll have a cup of camomile tea to calm my frayed nerves.

I think this bill is dead. The new bill C-51 has to do with the internet.
I never did hear a thing about it ... and I LIVE in Canada!!
