I have a huge vase of zinnias that I cut after Irene. They are starting to dry in vase. So my question is, are the seeds good? Thanks to anyone that can help.

If the Zinnia's are hybrids don't bother saving them. Hybrid seeds very seldom germinate and those that do the resulting plant will not be good quality or could be very different from the original plant.

I also think that the seeds wouldn't be worth saving, if you could get them. I really don't think the cut flowers keep long enough to produce a viable seed. Best off to just buy a packet of seed next year or get some from some one who saves them every year.

Zinnia or most any other seed collected at home need to be ripe.

A ripe zinnia seed pod is long after flower has passed.

At best you'll get low-to-no germination.
