I am new here and to my surprise I find this is a very helpful board to join. It directs a new person to go to the correct place to start. I like it...... I am a new outside gardener. I have always been a keeper of exotic plants in my greenhouse but have done nothing with native plants for my area. Now I am dealing with the bugs in the new gardens.
Yes... this is an extremely helpful place and the people are super nice and knowledgeable. What part of the world do you live in?? Welcome aboard!
I am from NJ but have lived all over the country in my adult life. I have landed in North Eastern, Pa in my very very mid life. LOL I am a woman with a hubby. I had a daughter who just passed away in January and a step son who is a wonderful man as is his dad. I have a wonderful 26 foot all glass greenhouse. It's cold in the winter so I keep it heated to 70 degrees. It's live visiting the paradise out there in winter. Great when snow is 2 feet high.
Welcome to GardenStew from north Texas where almost everyday lately is like a tall greenhouse that you can't avoid What name shall we call you, waretrop or do you have a nickname you prefere? We would love to see photos of your 26 foot tall greenhouse, in any kind of weather even though I do prefer scenes of snow. So sorry to hear about your daughter, hope the good memories will always keep you strong.
How could I forget my name???? Guess I am not all there yet. LOL My real name is Barb. I guess I will create a little album here. We owned many pet shops for many many years. Now looking toward the next stage in our life (retirement) we have closed them and moved to our special place. Thank you all for prying info out of me. LOL Barb
Welcome to GardenStew! I hope you enjoy our niche in cyberspace! I have enjoyed meeting all the wonderful people on here!!
Hi Waretrop, welcome from a distant land .... I am almost there and retirement is one of the best part in life! Glad you are here with us!
Thank you all for the very warm welbome. I have added a million photos in my album. Hope it's ok. Your welcome to come see them if you would like. Barb
Barb, you'll love it here! We'll also enjoy your participation and photos, so everybody will be happy gardeners!
Welcome to the Stew, Barb. We are so glad to have you with us here. Bugs in the greenhouse are virtually unavoidable. Hope you find the info here you are looking for. Sometimes we have answers, sometimes, not.
Hi there Barb and a warm welcome to our forums from Scotland in the UK. Firstly, my condolances to you and your family on the loss of your daughter. Ask as many questions as you like - we do love to help each other out here. Maybe you can give us some tips on growing exotic plants and how to keep them healthy. I look forward to getting to know you. :-D
Many years ago my greenhouse had vivariums with darts frogs in it and a pond for my koi for the winter and even caged birds. I couldn't control the greenhouse bugs very well at all. I have found homes for all the pets now and have been able to keep the bugs in check very well. I use a real pesticide to wager full fledged war on them now that all my animals are gone. Barb
Hi Barb, welcome to GardenStew from Chelmsford, MA There is plenty here to keep people busy, forums, gardens and blogs. Welcome aboard. Jerry
Barb a big welcome and hug from Wis. Like everyone has said this is a great site to share, learn, and laugh. I to am sorry for your loss. Loosing a loved one is never easy. I would love a green house to retreat too when we also have snow. I'm praying that this winter has A LOT Less snow than last year. A few Inches are fine at one time. But 2ft or more at one time is just way to much. I'll quite rambling and glad you found this great group.
Hi Barb, I saw you were originally from NJ. I live in Southern NJ between Philly and Atlantic City. Welcome to Garden Stew. I love it here.
