Spoiler What do plant collenchyma cells and beer bubbles have in common? Their shape. Plant collenchyma cells and the shape of the bubbles in beer foam are the same. My husband is a real ale drinker and he said the shape of the bubbles are known as orthotetrachidecahedrons - now that's a mouthful and a half!!
Aaaaah, a plant after my own stomach!! The cells in the collenchyma plant and beer bubbles are the same shape, both are orthotetrachidecahedrons? Everyone knew that right? triangle, square, cube, dodecahedron, orthotetrakisdecahedron, orthotetrachidecahedron. This begs the question what does a orthotetrachidecahedron look like. Hmmmmm??? Jerry
I hope the following answers your question of what they look like, I found some pics of the cells! http://botweb.uwsp.edu/anatomy/collenchyma.htm
