Hi, Just found this site, looks like it will be fun. I'm a market gardener in north central Minnesota and sell most of my garden stuff at a farmers market about 30 miles away. We have had around 3 inches of rain in the last week or two so it's been tough to do much in the garden. I really need to get the tomato plants in the ground but it's been too soupy to do it. Are any of you market gardeners? I grow mostly veggies, beets, beans, potatoes, onions, shallots, kohlrabi, tomatoes, and have some flowers. Looking forward to great stuff here.

Thanks for the greetings. I did manage to work in the garden a bit, pulled some weeds and hoed a while. Hopefully it won't rain again tonight so I can take the tractor out and get some more ground ready to plant. Anybody here do rhubarb? The rain has really made it grow and the patch needs to be picked, market doesn't start for a few weeks so I'll probably have to freeze a bunch and make rhubarb sauce. Think I'll make a batch of sauce this evening. I've been enjoying reading the posts.
My mom used to have a patch of rhubarb in her garden when I was little and she would use it to make rhubarb tart. Absolutely delicious I used to remember eating raw pieces of it when she would cut it up. It was a 'little' bit sour
I don't have much rhubabrb in the garden but already I've managed to harvest enough on two occasions to make stewed rhubarb and rhubarb tarts. My grandparents used to grow it and give us stalks to eat with a little cup of sugar for dipping. (Bad for the teeth I know but yummy)
Yum, rhubarb tarts sound good! I don't think I have a recipe for tarts, have recipes for rhubarb pie, crunch, & crisp. I never learn... I always make too much, ended up with a whole big batch of rhubarb strawberry sauce. Picking it didn't even make a dent in the patch. Darn it! Looks like I'll have to freeze a whole bunch of it. My eyes don't fall out when I eat too much, but they are too big when dishing up rhubarb and... it is good for you and gives you lots of fiber! It's raining again today, yuck. I'll have to catch up on stuff in the house. Take care all,
