I only painted one of these, the star with the part of the Texas state flag on it and I added the copper pieces of roofing on the small greenish one. The rest are as I found them at thrift stores.....except that they are now adhered to unpainted newel posts from Lowe's.

This one will soon be surrounded by Malvaviscus arboreus var. drummondii (Turk's Cap) that will hide most of the post it's on...

I need to plant something closer to the post to hide it...maybe a vine...oh, that's good a Morning Glory vine...

With the roses behind it and a Leucanthemum nipponicum (Montauk Daisy) beside it, the post should be hidden pretty well in a few weeks.

In the north bed with the Cardoon hiding the post, sunflowers to come up later will look really nice beside it...

I love the colors and the shape of this one, reminds me of a Dr. Seuss story...There is a Montauk Daisy next to this one too.

Gosh any birds visiting your garden and looking to set up home will be spoilt for choice. What a wonderful collection of bird houses you've collected Toni. I look forward to seeing them again once the plants have grown and covered the posts.

An A+ for the Dr. Seuss birdhouse. While low to the ground I could imagine a Wren taking up residence. The posts are pressure treated? Yes?

I do like those birdhouses, Toni. The third one down from the top is especially charming to me.

Your garden is always so delightful to see glimpses of.

Toni, those are just so cute that you've given me the itch to start creating them again, myself. A few years ago I really got into making & decorating them & then they fell to the wayside when I got involved in other new projects. Gonna have to make a couple, I think.

Toni - I was wondering how you attach the birdhouse to the stand. Superglue? Nailed? I tried glue and didn't work so I'm looking for a solution.
    PS. Nice finds!! :-D

Tooty2shoes, thanks. The Dr. Suess one was a love at first sight at the thrift store, a little pricey but worth it.

Eileen, the way plants are growing here this spring the posts should all be covered in no time....I hope.

Jerry, yep they were originally made for deck railings so have been pressure treated. We don't have many Wrens visiting the garden but even if they just provide safety in a storm that would be great.

Thanks Barb, I have wanted to have a collection of birdhouses in the garden for a few years and finally got it done.

Netty, all my Rose bushes have been covered in blooms since mid-March this year. Last year not hardly a bloom so they are letting out all that pent up energy.

Sjoerd, #3 is my favorite too. That style would make a great garden shed. I have a series of photos of the front garden ready to get posted later today so you will be able to see more than just a glimpse of what I have been working on for the last three years.

Cheryl, sometimes I wonder if I have too much stuff in the garden...but then I tell myself to stop fretting and just buy more.

Jewel, there are a couple of other birdhouses that I passed up at the thrift store over the last few months and am now kicking myself for that...but that's always the way.

Luvdirtyhands, if I had build and painted all of those from scratch they still would be just piles of lumber and drawings. Good luck with yours and don't forget to post photos.

Donna, thanks. When I am out in the garden I sometimes just stand there and look at them I love them too.

KKNG, now that the feral cats are gone my yard does have the look of Bird City...birds, feeders, baths, homes. All ready for settling in.

Philip, any birdhouses that come from those ideas we do want to see photos of!!

Muddypaws, my husband made custom sized bases that he screwed onto the end of the post. I painted each one to match the bottom of the birdhouse so they would show then used Clear Silicone on the bottom of the birdhouse to attach them to the stand. You can also use Liquid Nails.
I have Clear Silicone, Liquid Nails and Gorilla Glue for any outside projects..depending on what the project is.
