Well spring here is about 3 weeks early so i am enjoying being nicely ahead of my garden plan. A bonus as this year i focused on getting crops in the ground early. The garlic is doing well allthough i think i could have spaced closer. Garlic planted fall '11 ( photo / image / picture from Danjensen's Garden ) Was nervous about my peas as we had a lot of frosts after planting but there looking very healthy. early peas ( photo / image / picture from Danjensen's Garden ) The leggy lettuce seedlings might still do well. if not i have seed direct sown as well lettuce seedlings ( photo / image / picture from Danjensen's Garden ) On top of those both kale and beet seedlings are showing which again i'm impressed with considering the cold. the raised beds and sandy soil warms up quickly. I just finished sowing my squash in peat pots ready to plant out later. Anyone else benefiting from an early spring?
Oh yeah, I took a chance and planted early. Onion plants and radishes are ready now to start pulling the largest to add to a meal. Tomatoes- well...I had to replace one of the 4 big slicer types due to frost. I had risked my extra seedlings on the early planting. They are so far ahead of where they'd normally be. Early Girl even has flower buds.
