We're trying to decide what color to go with when we repaint our house. I'm torn between keeping our current light gray and possibly changing to this darker blue/gray. Current: This color is called "Still Water"
I know I'm supposed to choose one or the other. But my choice would be based on whether your home is in an area known to be "bright and sunny" or "cloudy and rainy".
Yes would be the answer to that! lol. But you gave me an idea! I could use both colors, keep the light on the siding, and use the gray/blue on the foundation (which shows on the south side of the house). That would add a little color. With the exception of the house across from me, ALL the houses on our street are beige, gray, or white. So a little color would be nice.
Is this photo shop or similar? can you add the colors to see what combination you like such as adding the shutters and trim in opposite the color of the siding? I think I would like to see it with the darker siding with the lighter grey for trim and then opposite that so see if there is a preference.
I'm using Sherwin Williams online Color Visualizer. You upload your photo and they have free software using their paint colors. You can try any combination you want. My brain hurts, so I'm taking a few days off of it though!
The lighter color looks better with your roof, if that is any part of your consideration. maybe try the lighter color with the trim the darker color.
I agree with Carolyn that the darker color goes better with the roof. It also makes the shutters stand out more and also the white trellis thing. Even the wrought iron patio furniture is more noticeable. The only draw back is that supposedly darker colors make houses look smaller, although I don't think this is true for your house. I would paint the ceiling of the porch area a white or very pale blue to brighten the aspect of the porch.
Oops! I just realized that I said the opposite of Carolyn re the roof color. I guess it is all in the eye of the beholder....
Here's the color we ended up with. It's going to be 7" single vinyl siding. It should look very similar in style to what we have now. Hope to see it installed in mid August! English Wedgewood ( photo / image / picture from Pianolady's Garden )
