Last fall I lost Kota, one half of our second generation Of Dobermans. Being a rescued dog she came with some odd behaviors that made me decide our last generation of pets would be smaller.

We got Amber, our California girl (she came from a kill shelter in LA). She is blonde and hysterical making us laugh multiple times daily. Fortunately she adapted well, wears sweaters so she doesn't shiver and gets along with all household members.

As a chihuahua, Italian grayhound mix she is high energy. She loves her toys, but has learned to let Ciara have one of the toys...sometimes. Being such high energy I felt she needed a small friend more her size to play with. (Although Ciara and Amber do play pretty well together...Amber is fast with the chase game)

I started searching for another rescue dog, small in stature. Really lucked out in finding a really laid back guy that is some sort of poodle/chihuahua mix. He is still figuring his new home but doing quite well. I can already see he will definitely make a great partner in crime for Amber. He also continues our tradition of having dogs with strange eating preferences. He is keeping the elephant garlic tops mowed. So cute, but has garlic breath much of the time.

Awww I know I wouldn't have turned my back on him either. He's adorable. I hope that Ciara, Amber and Max have a wonderful life together.

Carolyn you are right. I'll have to keep an eye out on him until the leaves get bigger, although I'm sure the amount of N-propyl disulfide he ingested is pretty low.

Guess garlic is used to treat high blood pressure and hardening of the arteries. Never knew that. If you have liver problems best to stay away from garlic. WOW! One of my favorites to add to food comes with warnings for some people/animals.

MelFallen, 6 of the dogs we have had over the years and all of our cats have been adult rescues from one to eight years old. They have all been a joy in their own way. These three are by far the most fun and affection we've ever had :stew2:

Just to cute. Our Tootsie was a rescue also. She only has one weird habit. Ever since she was a pup she always eats right before we go to bed. Her food can be out there all day and she never touches it. But turn off the TV and say, time for bed and she heads right for her food dish. Glad to see they have such a great home. :stew1:
