Do you guys have any idea about garden aeration? Any clues how if it works and who it helps - the plants?

I am a little confused by your question, do you mean tips on better aeration?

Yes, but I have no idea how it's working exactly? It is some kind of technique to improve your soil, am I right?

Well aerating your lawn consists of poking holes in it so water and other fertilizers/nutrients can better reach the roots.

Garden aeration is when holes are poked in the ground to allow water, air and nutrients to be absorbed by the roots of the plant. You should try and do this around twice a year.

I think the main/primary purpose is to allow the roots of the plants more air which they do need..

Aeration helps like others have said, by providing better access to water, nutrients, and air. We all know water is needed for out roots, well oxygen is just as important. I use a hand cultivator or a to scratch up the soil in the rows. I can hands down say on my peppers I seen over night improvement. They were really small and not growing much at all, of course I had boards laying on the dirt as well to keep the dogs off of them. They could still get all the water they needed but it was blocking oxygen from getting to them. Anyway, all I can say is it really helped the plants grow and helps cut down on weeds in the rows. Poking holes could be one way to do it I guess it would be more for lawn care being you don't want to dig up the lawn.
