Look what I spotted today: The other day I realized that love's in the air: The horses are shedding like... ehm... but it's nearly impossible to brush them since I keep getting interrupted: The idiot cat Tigger has appointed himself as the stable tester of everything, brushes, clothes, hay bags, bedding, hay and water. Here he's testing the rabbits' water: We've got milder temps so maybe, just maybe, we'll have spring for certain very soon.
Hey--you have frog-spawn, or as we call it, 'Kikkerdril". I saw some in the little canal whilst out walking the fields looking for bird's nests day before yesterday. You must have sent the spring down this way. That lead bird looks sorta like it's doing the backstroke. I didn't realize that Truls was a cat-lover. hahaha. I hope that your spring arrives soon, for that will mean that ours will as well.
Nice Droopy. I haven't seen any frog eggs, but the spring peepers are peeping every night it's not cold.
Too cold for frog's eggs but I keep looking for them. Bird calls and woodpecker rapping tell of mating calls. Jerry
Thanks dooley, I hope so too. This morning we've got lots of wind and rain, so I hope the deep frost will thaw out quickly. Sjoerd, the frog spawn won't make it. We're in for colder weather, maybe frost and/or snow over the week-end. caroly, we've got birds singing their hearts out, but the temps are still on the low side. Jerry, I like listening to the woodpecker. I hope your frogs will get down to business soon. cheryl, that's a photo of the cat and his horse.
I did not think it would ever warm up here. But it finally did and my gardens are planted. So there is hope Droopy.
Yep, Spring is on its way Droopy. We are sending it from here so you are a couple weeks behind us. Ocean voyage is a little slower than the internet, sorry. Last week was the first warm week we have had so I know it is coming!
Your post made me smile Droopy ... reminds me of my silly cat that just HAS to get into everything LOL I'm glad spring is finally on its way
Donna, I'm hoping! It just doesn't help much, does it? carolyn, thanks for sending some warmer weather. It will be very welcome. Cayuga and Netty, that cat's antics have given me lots of laughs this winter, and boy! did I need those laughs. We've had six months of winter and I'm sooo tired of it. What happened to the Gulf Stream? Did somebody divert it?
as a matter of fact Droopy, there was a weather pattern set up over the atlantic that was suppressing the gulf stream. We were in the same boat...literally. 6 Months of winter and a very cold spring. the leaves are just starting to come out and normally at this time of the year they are fully in leaf. The daffodils are just blooming, I saw yesterday. VERY late for here.
carolyn, we haven't got leafs yet either. Some of the very early daffs have started. They're an old species growing around old houses or wild in fields where there once was an old house. *sigh* I think that you're usually earlier than us. In normal springs the birches should have started putting out their leaves by now. We've usually got nice, young leaves on the birches by May 17th, our Constitution Day. At this rate we might have to bring the birch inside a week or two before we need it. *double sigh*
