It was hard to believe when I turned on my radio about 2:30 pm yesterday and heard a report of bombings at the Boston Marathon. I then turned on my TV to see all the chaos and injury that those 2 bombs caused. I knew from the way it looked that people must have been killed. Now we know that 3 people where killed yesterday. Sad to see anyone loose their life in such a way. I believe the total hurt was over 100. With several people still on the critical list. I hope that none of the stewers family or friends where involved. My prayers go out to all the people and families that were affected by that horrible act.
It was shocking that an event that has drawn people from all over the world to compete in a friendly way and enjoy meeting each other, was attacked in this horrendous manner. Your prayers and concern, Tooty, are shared by all Stewies, I'm sure.
My niece ran in the Boston Marathon last year but didn't this year. I immediately thought of her when I heard the news. My oldest son runs in marathons and 24 and 48 hour races. He runs every day no matter what the weather. He runs the trails every where. He lives in California. Now, when he has a race I will worry more. I really feel for the people who went running and now will never run again. All the injuries are terrible. Pray for Boston! dooley
Boston is in our thoughts, and so are all the people affected. What a sad, horrible thing someone made happen. Nothing can justify an action like that.
I just have to repeat it. Sad, tragic, horrible and wasteful act. They need to hang them by their "balls" in public and cause the most pain ever without killing them. Make them live through it......and then do it to him again. If it's a guy. They would stop it if more horrible things happened to them while they were alive.
Yes I agree with you all. Now the next marathon that is coming up is in England I believe. I'm sure that they will be beefing up security big time and people will be on edge for sure.
We have a Red Cross Marathon coming in May but it's very small town. Just the same, they are already talking about it and making plans.
This whole thing just makes me lose faith in humanity. On the news just now they said it was a pressure cooker filled with nails, BB's and metal shards and built to cause serious damage. What kind of person even thinks about making something like that? My heart goes out to everyone affected .
I have always said. Make the punishment fit the crime. If they catch them, tie them up, put them next to the same type of bomb and set it off. Punishment over!
Netty, I think we all question "what kind and how could" a person do this? sad sad day for all the people at the race and all the people who are effected. Prayers and tears for all.
Okay enough focusing on the bad guys. The more people talk about them the more they pat themselves on the back and think what a popular person I am. Dig up some stories on the good guys....the people who picked up and carried the wounded to ambulances, the ones who sat with the wounded and kept them calm until medical personal arrived, the ones who are searching hundreds of photos in hopes of finding a photo of the person(s) who did this. The news reports showed many people who were helping the wounded or traumatized get to medical help. Like Carlos Arredondo, a Costa Rican immigrant who lost his son fighting in Iraq. Many news agencies are now running pieces about the first responders to the tragedy. Even in the initial videos people were seen pushing barricades aside to get to the victims. Toni you are so right about that. We do need to focus on all the people that came to the aid of others in such a time as this. Mr. Rogers was one of my favorite good guys also. His mother had such wisdom in her telling about watching for all the good people in everyday life.
Watching the updates this morning, there is a whole other tragedy unfolding. Another person dead, a fugitive dead, and now an intense search for the other. People aren't allowed to leave their houses, business are to stay closed. It must be terrifying for those locked up inside their homes right now.
I feel for the victims. And now 1st bomber killed another and wounded another policeman.Still asking myself (WHY). Who could harbor such hate.
