Wow! thank you for the welcome, good to be here and a big hello to all the guys n gals from across the big water. Yorkshire lad, mid 40's GSOH looking for.. oh wait wrong forum! (jk) im new to this green finger lark but i am slowly getting addicted, i started off some years back wanting to grow my own food , built my own small veg box as a starter with very limited results but i was'nt going to let that bother me. moved house quite remote place, had 4 raised beds in the front garden had some good stuff from that but very limited to the amounts, so bought a poly tunnel and the nice farmer let me have some land free gratis which was very nice of him managed to grow a reasonable amount there until some big winds flattened it moved house again, only next door though but that came with an orchard and once again the kind farmer said i could have some land to use to grow veg on at the bottom. desided i would go for the "ministry of agriculture leaflet #1 "dig for victory" plot as it seemed idiot proof and thats about where i am at with that dug over 3 times, all planted up fenced off, got chickens, and ducks, looking into geting a pig or 2 for the pot, and slowly coming round to the fact i really need a wonderful cottage garden at the front, so hopfully i will be able to tax your brains from time to time with various questions. once again Thank you for having me.
It sounds as though you are living the good life Cakey. You must show us some photographs of your progress. What a great neighbour you have in the farmer- not many would allow you to use a piece of their land. Good luck with your crops. I could do with a couple of your ducks to rid my pond of Giant Pond Beetles and their larvae. They ate all my tadpoles this year despite the fact I had hundreds!!
