plant i.d . . . young seedling

does anyone recognise this young seedling?? came up with my ornamental chillis . . .

Some kind of clover perhaps. As with most members of sprouts anonymous, time will reveal its true nature. I'll stick with a species of clover for now.

I could be wrong, (often am) but this looks like a nasty weed that if you don't have it pull and destroy. Did have some that look remarkably like these a couple of years ago, but am fighting them now. Because of the fine tough roots and plentiful seeds setting early it is very tenacious and hard to keep under control.

 

ive disposed of it, doesn't sound good either way. . took quite a pull for a little seedling too

 

nasty weed ! Yes it is !! little bugger will take over your Lawn and everything else! nasty weed kill it!

 

I thought it was clover too.

It also resembles this tiny woodland flower which is not invasive. I have forgotten the name of it at the moment.

 

Think that's Oxalis AAnightowl. I have the pink.

 

You are right Mart. I remember it now that you mention it. It is a lovely little flower.

 

I maybe could of waited to see what happened with it, but it had no place in my little chilli pot. I assumed it was a clover also, so I dumped it :-D

 

Clover is good. It adds nitrogen to your soil. I always leave the clover alone.
