I rarely ever watch tv anymore. I love my Netflix cause I can watch what I want (mostly) when I want :) If the movie I want isnt available for streaming (thats all I pay for), I go to Project Free TV and can usually find a movie/tv show there.

I hate commercials. Just last night I was saying to myself "Self, I would much prefer commercials that just tell me straight up what the thing is and what it does (and side effects), I dont need to hear about your pimples or rashy skin or nasty teeth or limp *ahem* or anything else. Just the basics please" lol

Good point about commercials Bip. The funny thing is that if you watch old commercials that's basically what they were. That was until marketers learned it was far more effective to tap into our emotions instead!

Ah yes, the subliminal messages delivered by commercials. Unfortunately the message usually comes across as "who needs that?" or "what is that?" Sometimes my husband can explain a commercial to me (as in,they are trying to sell a car) but more often he is as confused as I.
Remember Bess Myerson demonstrating kitchen appliances while dressed to the nines? No housewife I ever saw dressed like that, but you knew who she was and what she was selling.

We tend to record any programmes we want to see on TV. This ensures that we can skip the ads and only watch programmes when we want to. :-D

OK, some of us watch TV only if someone else in the room has it turned on, and some (like me) instead watch all the TV shows (new as well as old) on the PC instead - Without any adverts...

But I just remembered one twist in this - Which is that even though many of us don't watch TV anymore. Still, once in every 4 years, all of us I am sure will turn on the TV to watch the Olympics!

    Am I correct? :D

Speaking of commercials, I will never forget the time my dinosaur loving toddler stood and watched a commercial, then turned to me and asked, " Mama, what is 'reptile dysfunction?'" I was at a loss of words at first, but then I said, "it's when they become extinct, and can't go anymore." This satisfied him. :D

I rarely watch live TV any more, like you I prefer to reminisce about things that I remember from my younger days by looking on Youtube. I also tend to watch a lot of music videos and sports highlights on Youtube as it just comes up with suggestions about what I'd like to watch which tends to be correct.

I do still record some programs to watch at my leisure (although rarely actually get around to watching them).

It's not so much the bad language that upsets me, more the endless repetition of brain numbingly boring reality TV shows that seem to dominate the peak viewing hours on UK TV.
