And finally, this here is the monster 5,000 Rupees note! On the front side you can clearly see M. A. Jinnah, (he is on all our notes), even the water mark on the side has his picture. While on the back you can see a view of Faisal Mosque, named in the honor of King Shah Faisal of Saudi Arabia. If Jinnah is to be considered as the father of Pakistan, and Sukarno of Indonesia like an uncle to us, then King Shah Faisal was like a grandfather to us. So that is why this gigantic Mosque in the capital city of Islamabad is named after him. It is also where our late President and Chief of the Army General Zia-ul-Haq is buried - I guess any leader who dies in power, will get buried there... So far we only have General Zia over there, along with his wife (who passed away a decade later).

This note is the most complex, and so very difficult to forge. It's security thread also glows in 2 different types of color (yellow and blue) under UV light. And on the front side of the note, the silver thread is woven in and out of the paper. And on it is written the denomination, 5000 Rs. So like I had said so before, this is an extremely difficult note to forge. The water mark also is of Jinnah's portrait.

One major problem with this note is that we can never find any change for it. As nearly all shopkeepers will turn you away after seeing a note of such huge denomination. So in that sense, unless you really are making extremely heavy purchases, this note is useless! The joke here is that our Government officials created this monster denomination - Simply so that their own pockets don't start to bulge from the bribes that they take in a day. So this is now known as the official bribe note! :D

Anyway, in this video you can see most of the places that are shown on the backs of our currency notes.

Alright - Now it's everybody else's turn to show us their country's currency!

    Thank you Calinromania! :)
Yes, that is how number five is written in the Arabic/Urdu script (while zero is just a dot).

Anyway, here are the discontinued 1 and 2 Rupee notes (no longer in service for over a decade, as coins have replaced them).

OK, now comes the bombshell! :smt003 As what I'm about to show you people next - Is actually one of the oldest design of notes produced by Pakistan. The date of production for this particular note is of 1952. And for me it is sort of like an heirloom...

Why? Well, there is a rule that every note ever produced will bear the signature of whoever is the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan at that time, (a rule that still continues today) - So this one from 1952 has my grandfather's signature on it!
    :smt044

Wow, I love these last ones (the notes).
    They look so "exotic".
And... so from your grandfather you know so much about money? :)

    Jinnah meets an idiot

The last time I died I told the idiot that I wanted the perfect hedonistic existence with American money and Plastic.

    The idiot said 'No problem'.

And these are some Dirhams from The United Arab Emirates (UAE). For us in Pakistan, UAE or mainly the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi (and Sharjah too) - Are like a second home. Flight time from Karachi to Dubai is only an hour and a half, and just 1 hour time zone difference. Over 70% of the people living in Dubai are Pakistani anyway. So that is why it's a very popular destination for Pakistanis. Which is why it is very common to see UAE Dirhams over here too (and Pakistani Rupee over there).

    I however don't have a 50 or 500, (I guess I missed to scan those on my last trip). But here they are, a 5, a 10, a 20, a 100, and 200 as well! :D
