When going through my hives I came across a frame that had developed a growth of fungus during the winter. This means that I would have to melt the wax out and sterilize the frame before further use. One thing though, it had some food still in it, so first I had to get that honey out...the best way to do that is to let my bees do it for me. It made for some interesting shots. This one looks like she is sticking her head in the sand. Een, twee, drie---all together now... They're on the move... They're back. Man, I could watch these girls all day long. I like it when they're doing their bird imitations.
I can honestly say I've never seen bees do that before. I think they appreciated you letting them have the honey somehow.

I have been to many speakers talking on the topic of bee keeping. I love it from afar. Being up close is not for me. It's a very cool thing to see such nice photos and to know someone who does such a great thing. Thanks Sjoerd.
Thank you CHERYL-- Yes, those bees really are busy creatures. EILEEN-- Well, one reason that you have probably never seen them do that before is because this is usually done inside the hive, not out in the open. They will do this in their hives right before they swarm to "move house"...or when you give them a little paff of smoke before you look into the hive for a check. Oh yes, they most definitely appreciated the extra honey to take back to the hive. You are so welcome CHRISLE-- Like I said to EILEEN up above, this behaviour usually takes place out of sight inside the hive. So it is not surprising that you have not seen it. You are most welcome for sharing. Hi WARE--I can completely understand that beekeeping is not for you. Completely. However apparently you find the subject interesting in spite of that....as you have been to several lectures about bee keeping. You are so welcome for the thread w/ foto's.
