A Magnolia is what you have there. I have one exactly the same in my own garden and I think they are beautiful.
Thanks Eileen. I love it too. I took the name Magnolia and looked at the different types. Looks like I have a 'Magnolia X Loebneri Powder Puff'.

SORRY but the plant in the above pics doesn't resemble (in my brain) any Magnolia I've ever seen or imagined More like something completely different... some lonicera? Just suggesting, don't kill me.
Well it very closely resembles my Magnolia x loebneri, but the Leonard Messner one rather than Powder Puff.
