The temps are dropping here in Lafayette. I thought I had put my roses to bed for the winter but they have other plans this year. Even the three rescued roses are blooming. Two of which havent bloomed since I rescued them! They are just buds so Im waiting for the to open to get the pix. The temp dropped to 52 last night.....brrrrrr it was cold! I could see my breathe!! Heres my beauties! Deformed but pretty! New Year (first in the shade) (half out of the shade.....it changes colors in the light) Knockout Perfume Delight Crystal Fairy (just one tiny bloom on the whole big bush ) (sorry for the size...still having trouble with it. I shrink them and then they resize whenever I upload them into photobucket.)
Nice to see you posting again Denee, we're a bit roseless without our Rose Queen. The colour on the New Year is amaxing, hard to describe.
Lovely roses Denee, I was wondering why you winterized them so early. Mine are still blooming and will do so for a while yet. Of course I am a little further south than you. They are on the south side of our home so we don't do anything to them unless it will get brutally cold. Great to see you back.
I tried to winterize them because I transplanted them in a bad part of the blooming season. I was worried I would lose them if they started blooming right after being transplanted. I gave up trying to put them to winter bed! LOL Oh...and I missed you guys too.

Lovely! What do you do to winterize them? Fertilizer? Mulch? I don't do anything to mine, just continue trimming as needed... they bloom into December, and it gets into the 30s before then. I really don't know much about them, I'm afraid.
The roses are great I was going to recommend my favorite but I see DW beat me to it the Double Delight changes color as the sun hits it also. Glad to hear from you again.
I put my roses to bed last week. There were even a few flowers and buds left on them. I use a wire cage about one foot high and stuff it with soil, mulch and leaves. It seems like the last few years I have been doing this many more of my roses have made through the winter. Pinkiered said: Sorry but :-D
LOL it was freezing for two weeks here!!!!! If it had rained we would have had that strange white cold stuff that fallss from the sky...I dont do snow! LOL All my roses are asleep ...finally! Boy do I miss them. Cant wait for spring!
