Those are beautiful colors, hope you get bunches of blooms. I have given up on Tulips, we just don't have enough cold in the winter for the to do well. Some will bloom the first Spring but nothing comes up the second.....pretty much the same with most Daffs for me.

They do need that cold snap to do well. i'm sorry you can't have them but then you can keep coleus outdoors all year long and I can't so I guess it evens out.

I am not positive who is digging up my tulip bulbs but next spring I will have less than I did this spring...I think it is the chipmunks I have running around. Well, I wish they would eat the whole bulb instead of leaving them half eaten in the flower bed. I should try planting them again, not sure if they would grow or not because I don't know when it was dug up.

tkhooper...I always had good luck with Brecks bulbs (besides the critters eating them). I have planted ones from Walmart and I end up with nothing coming up...Good luck and enjoy the tulips next spring.

If your bulbs are getting dug up you might try putting down a wire screen to deter the critters. You can lift it when the leaves start coming up. Or you can cut holes in it where the flower will come up.

TKhooper...I have used wire and it is not easy in a large bed. I have just decided to give up on the spring color with the tulips. I have voles and squirrels too and some of the voles seem to like to dig tunnels and get underneath the plants/bulbs. Our yard would be fascinating to see all of the tunels dug by these critters. We have tried the chewing gum and other chemical free ways but now we are just letting whatever happens, happen now. Thank you for the tip...

I'm sorry you won't have the joy of tulips and other bulbs in your garden. I understand what you are saying. I have my tulips in plastic pots buried in the ground to save them from voles and moles. And the saffron crocuses are on my deck in flower boxes because I refuse to loose them to varmint.

never thought of planting in pots but the chipmunk/squirrels could still dig them out. I have had so many rabbits taking up living in my flower bed with the flowers so tall and thick in there too, as soon as I cut them back for winter they will have to relocate. Thank you again...

I have planted some Monsella Tulips for customers. Monsellas can be planted in small amounts to call attention to specific areas of a flower garden.
