It's easy to root citronella plant. Take a clipping 5 inches and take the lower leaves off. Dip in rooting hormone. Stick it in a good potting soil in a pot and water it. Place the pot into a plastic bag and twistie the top shut. You can get roots easily.
I have a lot of plants, though I honestly have no idea what half of them are. People are always bringing us different plants because they are dying or can't get them to grow and we take them and they go nuts. Some that I know what they are.... around 50 jade trees, about 40 aloes, bamboo, geranium, two avocado trees the wife sprouted from some store bought avocados, some kind of ivy vine, the rest I have no idea what they are. If anyone can identify any of this stuff it would be great... Lots more plants but I do not have good enough light to take a picture of them at the moment. Soon I will have the plants planted in the new plant room, should be some cool pics then...
I have two lucky bamboo plants, a peace lily that I have split and made into two, a spider plant, two ferns, and two others that I don't know the name of yet. I have two miniature rose bushes that I still have in pots also. I hope by next year, I can add to that collection! I have to make sure that I can keep these going strong first!
I have many as well: Christmas cactus, (5) ferns, coleus, snake plants (19) cactus (5) also new Kalanchoe, many spider plants, geraniums (5), many jade plants, a few aloes, and some herbs I have brought inside to overwinter, 2 latanas. probably a few more that I may have left out.
DMJ24, A few years ago, I had bought jasmine plants because I wanted to make jasmine tea. I never did make the tea and I ended up giving the plants away to co-workers because I'm a bleeding heart when it comes to pruning. I root the cuttings and was running out of room to sit! I am hoping to get a jasmine plant again. Once I know I have it in me to throw away the cuttings, I'll buy one.
In my small old house with smaller windows I only have room for my old prayer plant, some cactus and sedums in the kitchen window and an amaryllis in the laundry room. There is, by necessity, furniture in front of the other windows. :'(
In haven't any success forcing bulbs. I'm trying my hand now at a daffodil on my window sill. What is the trick to it?
I have a Bromelaid, Aloe, Basil, Jade, an Stevia *the basil and stevia will stay inside until spring then go outside in the sunligh*
In my bedroom I have a pathos, christmas cactus (which didn't bloom over Christmas...so sad ) an african violet and another plant whose name I don't know. Downstairs I have several orchids in various stages...2 blooming, 3 not....a dieffenbachia, more pothos, some kind of fern, and 2 others whose names I don't know. Oh! And the asparagus fern. Let us never forget the asparagus fern!
Hi Ronni, my Christmas Cactus didnt bloom either for Christmas. It has been blooming in the summer time! Go figure!
I've cut down on houseplants since my moved. Gave a lot away to neighbors but this is what I left. My two big monsters and a bunch of other small ones. I picked up the two tiny cute planters yesterday and they are going to grow cat grass for the kitty. A spider plant, shlefflerra, rubber tree, money tree bonsai, lipstick plant, jade, snake plant, fiddle leaf ficus, pothos, Brazilian edelweiss, parlor Palm, nepenthes, Indian rope plant, philodendron, Christmas cactus, and a few succulents. Oh yeah, and a sad little pony tail Palm my cat keeps eating.
Here's my newest babies! Kalanchoe x houghtonii, Sedum rubrotinctum (jellybean plant/pork'n'beans,) and Graptoveria 'Opalina.'
I have a few bamboo palms and a parlour palm. Alas, I'm only baby-sitting the bamboo palms. I open a window for them and sit them in the morning sun a couple of times a week. They get just under half a cup of water once to twice a week.
