Sydney those are very good. The subtle touch and flow will come with practice. Keep up the good painting. Once I get a few more $$ I will have to buy some watercolors. I have the paper but no paints at this time.

GinnyC I will have to check out your post and see some of your work. Yes I know what you mean. It is not as easy as it looks to be.

Toni--thank you for your wonderful comments. It would be quite a view. With the cold winter we have had I think I will choose to disappear into a summery looking painting.:stew1:

Before I did the picture of the mountains. I had started to do a different painting on the same canvas. I just couldn't get the waterfall painting to come together. So I primed over it and came up with the mountain scene. We all have those days. Wouldn't it be great if one could just paint over a day that is not going well and start over.

Hi T 2 s. Ref painting over - when you get to using water colours do give the acrylics a go also. With these it can be done, a change of mind can be painted over, they dry quickly and any colours can be gone over, even white on black. Syd.

Well, all I can say is that my husband and I have collected artworks for over 30 years, and we'd be proud to have any of your works on our walls, Tooty! To have such talent is a great gift, but not a gift given to many.

Sydney those are very good. The dog is really cute. Another very good acrylic artist to watch is Jerry Yarnell. He is on our PBS station every Monday and Friday. I have been thinking of taking online classes from his website.

GinnyC thank you. Yes I know what you mean about letting loose. It is kind of hard to just let it flow.

Toni---Thank you. That would be a really great view to look at every day.

Cayuga--it is painting a thinner background and when it is still wet you can paint on top of that to create a picture without having to let the oil paint dry first.

Marlingardener---Thank you for such a wonderful complement. I have been encouraged by some of my friends to try and sell a few of my paintings. But that is always a rather scary thought because of the What IF thoughts that run through ones head. We are, are own worst critic.

DSC_0014.JPG Hi Tooty. This for conversations sake. Forgive me repeating my effort at this Rose but there is an interest side to it and to artlovers like yourself especially. Friends of mine visited Flatford Mill (of Constable Hay Wain fame) some years ago and sent me some photos with explanations. Next door to Flatford Mill of course is Willy Lotts Cottage and one particular photo showed this Rose growing on the side of an attached outbuilding at the Cottage. Copied it as faithfully as I could in all details colours etc.
The Dog belongs to a pal of mine in Canada BC who is a Ranger/Rescue Squad man and spends or spent a lot of time out in the wilds. A good Dog essential of course to give warning of the presence of potential danger such as Bears, Moose etc. He also sent a photo of Molly and I did the same there in copying it as close as I could. The white all round her face is frozen snow. Will send this and then upload the photo and my effort pic of her. Syd.

Syd, your photos are magnificent, and your paintings are absolutely lovely! Such talent, behind a lens or behind a brush.

Hi Tooty, Jane, Kitty. Plenty to talk about with this subject and also the very closely associated photography. As with all things it is a nice feeling that ones efforts regardless are appreciated and a kind word is always so much appreciated. Syd.

Hi Tooty. I look forard to hearing about your first little "adventure" with water colours - and also seeing some of your results. Can assure you that you will find the process of wet IN wet very interesting and even exciting but particularly when doing skies and for sure theres plenty of scope. Syd.

Very beautiful...My older sister used to paint before she passed. I have some of her work. I don't have the talent to draw or paint anything. Keep up the great work.
