and I have not grown Hyacinth before this year but thought I would give them a try. There are other colors of the Hyacinth about to open but it's raining now so I will get photos tomorrow.
My bulbs have a way to go before they flower for me but I'm already looking forward to the wonderful scent of my hyacinths. My mini iris are up but no buds are in evidence yet.
I love mini iris too, but it will be while before I see mine-at least a couple of weeks. I see tips of these and some other bulbs, and shoots of the pasque flower. I forgot to say that the hyacinth are pretty and I wish there was smell transmission for them through the web!
So mine are open today as well. The minis are the first thing to bloom (that I have planted) and the hungry bees have found them. Can you find the bee?
Beautiful flowers. I've never grown the mini irises, I don't think I've even seen any before. Yours are beautiful and I many have to look for some myself.
Just make sure they are in a spot that is on the dry side in the summer. I first saw some in a demonstration xeriscape garden that was in a park in town. That demonstration garden is long gone now. I think the variety was Harmony that was in it, as they were bluer than the ones I have. Maybe that is what Toni has.
Yep, mine are the 'Harmony' Cultivar Iris reticulata 'Harmony' (Dwarf Iris, Dwarf Purple Iris) And in my yard there is no problem finding dry places in the summer I will be getting more of them for next year.
Maybe I will get some bluer ones, too! They sure are pretty. I might spread out the ones that I have, too.
they are really pretty...I had some type of mini iris years ago...I love iris . I lost a lot of my larger ones to rot last year
I can see the bee clearly and it's obviously enjoying collecting pollen from your beautiful iris. I'm still waiting for mine to bloom so, in the iterim, I can enjoy seeing yours.
