Do you know what they might all be doing in that one spot? Is there something there such as a hole or something?

Those look like web worms. There are two types, Spring and Fall....they are also called Tent Caterpillars because of the tent of webbing they build on trees and limbs. If you do find them in webbing on limbs, break open the webbing to let wasps feast on them.

We had them on some small shrubs, they were disgusting. I was hoping the birds would eat them but they didn't. We knocked as many off onto cardboard and folded it up and put it in the garbage. The best thing might have been to burn them but we don't have a place to it. We ended up digging out the whole shrub and getting rid of them. I never want to see them in the yard again. I think they are tent caterpillars too. You might want to just try something organic but it didn't work for us, that is why we dug the shrubs. Hopefully you can find something that works or maybe you can hand pick them off or try a small flame close to the tree and see if they drop...We had so many of them that it made you feel crawly all over.
