Personally I missed the very start of the summer here in Ireland so I can't give my opinion on that. However the majority of summer was not very summer-like at all. Dull and very often wet. The past few years have brought at least one two week stretch of hot weather. Not so this year! Our national meteorological service reported the wettest summer in 6-7 years.

It was disappointing overall. What's your review of the summer? :setc_015:

My review is exactly the same as yours Frank. A very wet, windy and dull summer overall. We did get the odd day that was warm and sunny but nothing to shout about. Some of our surrounding fields are still to dry out after all the rain we've had.

We were in the continent and it was only really hot for about a week and a half 0r so ... maybe two. We got really tanned and suffered from minor sun burn. It was hot in the sun but cool in the shade outdoors. Rain was minimal and did not get in our way. This is the first time for us to experience summer from the beginning right to the end. It was nice and we enjoyed it, so much different the crazy hot, humid weather back home.

I thought this was a lovely summer! The temperatures were good, if not a little too hot sometimes, but I like the heat. We didn't get enough rain, and so I am hoping we get a good soaking soon. If the trees and shrubs head into winter dry, they will have trouble surviving our harsh winter. Ugh, winter. That is the season I hate! I guess that is why ANY summer weather is good for me ... because I know how BAD it will get in the winter.
Edited to add - I had the best veggie garden to date. My tomatoes, onions, carrots, cucumbers, beans, peas, greens, kale and cucamelons did amazing. Zucchini fell victim to borers again and the peppers were a huge disappointment. I give credit to my efforts in soil improvement and added rain barrels for watering. Excited to plan next years garden :)

Hot and Dry. 44 (officially), 73(my yard) consecutive days without rain and 30+ days of 100 deg temps or higher. Problem is, it's not over yet and won't end on the arbitrarily designated first day of Autumn.

Very strange summer here Frank. Hottest on record I believe, with weeks of 90's. And no rain to speak of except dribs and drabs and very few of them at that. Between the heat and the smoke from our fires, I am amazed that our garden did so well.

We had a cooler than usual summer, and rain once a week or so, but not the soakers we sometimes get that causes flooding. Very good for all the gardens, trees, etc. My phlox didn't get mildew this year, was really surprised about that. It usually does. It was as good as it gets here.

Worst garden we've had since we moved to the farm. We were flooded out in the spring--couldn't get into the vegetable or flower gardens to weed. The weeds took over, and by the time it dried out enough to pull weeds, they were too well established. Then the tap turned off and we have had only 1/4" of rain total in July, August, and so far in September. The roses loved the wet spring and the tomatoes, green beans, and cucumbers did, too. Everything else either drowned or mildewed.
Temperatures have been a bit lower, but still hot, hot, hot as Toni said. If it weren't for the gardener's perpetual optimism about "next year" I'd really be depressed!

Well, Winter ( the coldest and ugliest one in my history) turned into a tolerable Spring, not great not warm and "springy", then May came and it turned into a 90 degree dry inferno... then June came and we got 10" of rain.... The wettest one on record, then July and August arrived with NO rain or respite from heat.... but nothing over 90 I think... so it was tolerable... but parched. No one here had tomatoes to speak of that survived the rain and drought unless you were like us... planted in plastic and then irrigating several times a week.

Like Bunkie & Pete's summer, mine was unbelievably hot & dry & smoky!!! We really need a lot of snow this winter so that next summer is better. It was so miserable that I didn't spend nearly enough time in the flowerbeds :worried: I hope it cools down, rains a little and lets me clean up the beds! Is that asking too much?

Our summer started cool with a lot of rain. June was miserable hot (for here) then it turned cool again with slightly above normal rain. Fall started a month ahead of time and frost came almost a month early. The vegetable garden and annual flowers did well but the weather seemed to confuse the perennials. Some bloomed earlier than normal and others later. I did get a second blossoming on some that hadn't bloomed twice in other years. A strange summer overall.

We had a really late spring because our winter was so tough. So much snow to melt, it delayed spring by several weeks. Then in May we had drought! No rain the whole month. I had a vegie plot in the community garden for the first time this year, & my daughter & I were lugging water to the new transplants (no spigot there, only a hand pump). The rest of the summer was good: rain every week. That is, until recently. It has again been dry for the past 3 weeks. If unfortunately occurred while we were out of twon & I was not home o water new plants. A number of them have died :(

Dry winter and early spring with warm temperatures, hot summer (90s for weeks) dry, dry, dry, currently doors are open and it's in the 70s with wind. Very strange and unusual weather all of 2015. Never did catch up with the weeds.
