Sorry to hear of your accident. What a bummer, but my thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope you feel better soon.
Jeez son, you scared me there!!! At first I thought your title was because you were posting something in the joke section, but then when I saw you were posting in Village Square, I got really worried. I am SO glad you're OK!! And yes, I second what others have said about not toughing it out. I had several surgeries in 2013 (old lady stuff..I'm fine) and I really noticed a difference in my general demeanor..which aided my healing..when I wasn't just setting my teeth against the pain and toughing it out. Please keep us informed as to how you're doing.
Good grief, FBG! This is really bad news to hear. The first thing that came into my head was what state you were in...the next thing was the woman. You know, here having insurance is mandatory to protect folks like you. That is to say, if there is an accident then the person not at fault does not have to pay for a new auto (or repairs) all by himself. It is sour that you have lost your auto and now must pay for a new one only because the driver of the other auto was not responsible enough to have an insurgence policy...to cover even a basic minimum . Ach mate, these sorts of things make me a bit angry when I hear them...but the bottom like is that I am very pleased to hear that you are alive and kicking (albeit with a groan). Get well soon.
Oh dear, what a story! I wish you a speedy recovery. Good luck with finding a new car. We also have to have insurance. An uninsured car will get the license plates confiscated, the owner will get a heavy fine. Be a good boy and take your meds as toni said.
As caretaker to my parents this is a concerning story. I am so glad that you are okay. My dad, who is 79, was told last year by two different doctors that his driving days were over. He hasn't taken it well and insists that he is okay to drive. Having watched his memory loss get progressively worse I agree with the doctors. We have to hide the keys from him because he still wants to get behind the wheel. It has to be hard to give up that independence, but I am so worried something like this would happen if he managed to get into the car without us knowing. I'm not saying your elderly driver was impaired, just that this really hit home with me. Again, I'm so thankful you weren't seriously injured.
Yikes!! Thank goodness the other car didn't hit the driver's side or the outcome for you would have been dreadful.
Miss Eileen, here across the pond, that is the drivers side. The Almighty looks after fools and children. I'm a bit old to be a child.
Yeow!!! Yeah, not to minimize in any way the pain you're in physically, but man! If she'd hit you just a foot or two closer to the front of the car, I think you'd be in much worse shape than you are.....I doubt you'd have walked away from that one! I'm so glad you're OK honey!
Oops sorry FBG. I tend to forget that you lot have the steering wheel on the opposite side to us. You were so lucky that she hit you where she did and that your injuries weren't far more serious.
OMG! You are so lucky you weren't more seriously injured!! A car can be replaced but you can not. Looking at that picture of your car reminded me of a friend of mint that was t-boned by a driver that ran a stop sign. He actually heard his neck snapping ... they thought he would never walk again... but now 2 years later and lots of therapy he is able to walk with a cane. It was a long, scary 2 years of his life he will never get back.
You have been through a lot...and for the other driver, it could be lack of funds or just doesn't care. People think it is so bad to be without a cell phone, etc. so they skimp on the other things. They make bad choices and someone else ends up paying for it. I have never heard of anyone not getting something from the other party when they are hit, some medical problems might pop up later from it so I would advise you not to sign off or you will end up paying for it later. Good luck..
FBG---I just found this post!!! I hope you are on the mend. Good thing she didn't hit you right in the driver's door. Good luck finding a replacement car. EG--I can so relate to your concerns about your dad. We went through something similar with my mom before she relinquished her license. It is a tough step but so so necessary.
