Spring was a long time coming this year, but it is finally here. Mother Nature seems to be jumping right into summer, with hot temperatures and todays high expected to reach 30°C for the second day in a row. I thought I'd better capture some of the spring blooms before they are gone. These are 'China Girl' Tulips, one of my favorites ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) Black Parrot Tulips An early shot of the Fritillaria imperialis Euphorbia in the background, and the Camassia is doing well this year too This section of the garden is very 'blue' right now The first beautiful Tree Peony bloom Anemone canadensis And finally, my rhubarb. Hard to tell from this photo, but this monster is over 4 ft tall! I'm heading out to harvest some more and will be baking up a treat
Those are some very nice foto's, Netty. Wow, that Rhubarb looks like an X-File. hahaha. That'll go good in your strawberry jam to help it set-up a bit. The Fritillaria is looking splendid. I am so happy for you that finally your garden is beginning to show colour...it all looks so nice there.
Just gorgeous, Netty. Lots of colorful blooms and I love the Rhubarb, mine keeps trying to come back but our weather just isn't conducive to it's growth so it stays two little leaves poking out the soil. This is the first Spring in several years that the temps hre have stayed Spring like but they are now beginning to take on a more Summery feel.
Well spring may have been late for you Netty but what a show she's putting on now!! Your China Girl tulips are really beautiful and I can see why they're your favourites. Our rhubarb is nearly as big as yours this year so I'll be out picking some over the next few days.
Thanks all. The rhubarb has already been made into jam and several trays of strawberry rhubarb crisp. I have even been adding a piece to my juicer ... makes a nice flavour! I have also frozen enough to get through the winter, and still have lots to spare. I just found the instructions on how to can some, and so that may be next.
Netty,..Spring has started very well for you,..you have some very beautiful blooms there,..one i have not seen before is your Fritillaria imperialis,..very attractive.
