My wife and I went out to dinner last night and when we came home we couldn't help but notice that a storm had blown through. I didn't know how bad it was until I got up this morning.

The sunflowers took a beating, but I've been able to stand a few of them back up. 20160602_063655~2.jpg 20160602_063709~2.jpg 20160602_063721~2.jpg

I don't believe the amaranth is salvageable. 20160602_064132~2.jpg

And the old plum tree has definitely seen its last day. 20160602_064337~2.jpg

That wind damage was brutal. It looks so bad to see, mate.
Are you going to try and stake those sunflowers, or give them some other form of support? You may be able to save them to a degree. As for your old tree--well, it looks plum tired.

Sjoerd, I'm going to see what I can do with the sunflowers. I hope I can save them.

Good luck with that...this sort of natural violence always saddens me a bit, but I always try to salvage. Just try, mate. We have a saying--"You already have 'no', perhaps you can get 'yes' ".

How sad. I hope your sunflowers can be salvaged, and at least some of the amaranth. The plum tree, well, it will make fragrant firewood . . . .
I hope that's the last storm you have blow through!

Oh dear wind can do so much damage in such a short time. Fingers crossed you can, at least, save your sunflowers or the seeds from them.

Looking so much better after your TLC eclectic. I just hope the wind stays away until they've stopped flowering.

Save the seeds for next season - Seriously, don't ever give up! Once in a while nature does throw a sucker punch at us. But it's not all that likely to happen anytime soon. So keep doing what you are! :like:
