I just finished mowing the back yard, and am cooling down before my shower (which I need, lordy, lordy!).
The chicks moved from their playpen into their big coop this morning--they like having more freedom and immediately found their new, bigger watering station and threw grass into it. They are going to be a handful . . . .
Picked more squash and cherry tomatoes and had a long and unproductive conversation with the local health clinic about their inability to get me scheduled for a blood test (I'm fine, but it's supposedly part of a yearly exam). Their excuse was that their computer system was being upgraded. Frank, these folks really need your expertise!

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 15°C and sunny. Another hot day ahead, and still no rain in sight. Plants and gardens are unhappy. I am a little disappointed myself this morning ... had thought I was getting my puppy today, but after a call to the breeder I discovered that she was unable to get an appointment until Monday for the puppies shots. She says that we could pick him up on Monday evening, but I would rather we get him on the weekend so he bonds with the whole family, rather than being home alone right away. Will have to check everyones schedule for next week and see who will be home. Not really sure what to do with myself for the rest of the weekend now! Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. We went to the 50th wedding anniversary reception for some friends last night.....I have not seen so many old people in one place in a long time. Oh, wait, I was one of them......

Today we have some errands to run, only supposed to be close to 100 deg with a heat index between 102-108 so we should be wiped out when we get home.

Good Monday morning all. Currently 18 degrees and humid. Chance of thunderstorms later, we really need some rain! Off to work, have I mentioned lately how much I hate Monday?

Netty, usually Monday is my least favorite day of the week (laundry, lots of outside work in the heat, and all that unfun stuff) but today we are going to the Waco zoo for National Bird Day! There will be talks by the different curators and I may even get to hold a raptor. We'll have a late lunch and then come home to check on our birds, and then collapse. A fun Monday for a change!
Well, not so fun. We got to the zoo a half-hour early so we could drop off Backyard Birds of Texas booklets for those coming to the National Bird Day presentations. There were no signs about where the curator's talk was to be held, so we wandered around the zoo for a half hour and got some good pictures, but no idea of where to go for the curator's presentation. We finally left at 11:30 and headed home. The talk was to be at 11 a.m. and we figured we'd missed it, if it even happened.
So, no celebration/education about National Bird Day, no lunch out. At least the hens have given us two eggs today. There are some birds you can rely on. . . .

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 9°C and overcast. The thunderstorms promised did not appear, and so a watering I will go! One good thing did happen yesterday ... I finally got to bring my puppy home! He has been such a good boy and I am sad to have to go to work and leave him. My son will be home with him all day ... lucky guy. Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. Just another hot, dry day with so many more to come between now and sometime in late October.

This coming Friday is our annual day out with our oldest daughter. We are going to Waco to check out the many junque/antique stores there. Have lunch at a greasy burger joint called Health Camp, an afternoon treat (Dr. Pepper Float) at the Dr. Pepper museum and more shopping, then supper maybe at Capt. Billy Whizzbang's.

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 15°C and overcast with NW winds, so feeling much cooler. Was up early with the puppy, he is such a good boy. Sadly, I have to leave for work soon. We had a small pop up shower last night, not really enough to water the gardens but every bit helps at this stage. Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. There is supposed to be a cool down tomorrow, 76deg at 6 a.m. and only 96 by late that afternoon. I will take advantage of the cooler day to get a few things finished out back.

I got laundry on the line early, then grabbed my pruners and dead-headed roses for an hour. When I got back inside, I was wet and the laundry was dry. This is the time of year Texas gardeners get up early and get at it!
I made some Italian potato salad and some deviled eggs to have with our grilled salmon this evening. One hot dish is all we can manage with temps in the mid-90's.

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 10°C and clear. Still no rain in sight. Things are getting crispy out there.
Not a lot of sleep last night due to picking up my daughter late at school and then puppy being full of energy. It's going to be a long day.
Have a great day all :)

Goodness gracious it's early this morning. We are up early getting ready for our yearly outing with our oldest daughter. Today we are heading a couple of hours south to Waco and some new-to-us antique/junque shops. Nothing particular in mind for me, just whatever calls my name will be brought home.....if I can afford it.
See you all sometime this evening.

This morning I made a big pot of marinara sauce from our Roma tomatoes, basil, parsley, and onions. It's now in the freezer--nothing better on a cold winter night that pasta with marinara sauce!

Toni, I hope you find lots of goodies, and post pictures of "whatever calls your name"!

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 10°C and sunny. Another hot day ahead and still no rain in sight. It is getting to be a very bad situation ... lawns are crispy brown, trees are drooping and the gardens are suffering. Fire risk is at high. The only hope of rain ahead is predicted for Wednesday with a 60% chance. I hope we get some before then. House cleaning today, and some more puppy training. Sargent is feeling at home now and so he is getting more bold, and into more trouble. He had words with my vacccuum and broom yesterday, it was very cute.
Have a great day all :)
