We recently had a large hackberry tree taken down that was threatening our home, and our lives. The 3' stump provided an opportunity to do a little "garden decorating". We first thought of putting a pot with flowers on top of the stump, but decided that was just too predictable. We settled on this: We have three roses planted at the base of the stump, and "Gorg" filled with sand (for weight) on top. Wait 'til you see him in his Santa outfit in December!
I like it!! What a great way to use an old tree stump. It's going to look great with roses around it and I'm looking forward to seeing him dressed up for Christmas.
Brian says it's a very nice piece of work. I would put something like that in my front yard, given of course that I had a front yard. It reminds me of the stone faces on Easter Island. I really like it.
Dooley, it is a replica of an Easter Island statue, and I'd bet we're the only kids on our block that have one!

We are planning a Santa hat and a red bow-tie for Christmas. Hadn't thought of Thanksgiving--if I can't come up with the headband, perhaps a Pilgrim hat? I should be able to fashion one, although I'm not very "crafty". It is for fun--we have reached the stage in our lives when we do what we want, when we want, and enjoy doing whatever!

How cool is that! Another site (?) that I'm on one of the people makes that exact one out of concrete. They stand roughly at six feet.
LIcenter, there is a cement "factory" near here that has all sorts of yard art made of cement (anyone want a lifesize cement gorilla?) but they don't deliver, and don't install. We went for the smaller, lighter weight statue that gets filled with sand for stability. I'm still trying to figure out how to get that cement rhino to our yard . . . .
