Hi everyone, I've been reading through the forums and have found very helpful advice on working with difficult rooms.

While this bedroom is rectangular, the furniture inside is to be rearranged. Everything is scaled, the room's actual size is: 108" by 139". There is a window that I forgot to label along the very top of the diagram, there are no other windows.

The requirement: the bedside table is going to be in the top-left corner of the diagram I have included. The table will be replaced, probably by a smaller one (due to space limitations).

The closet is a sliding door and the entry door opens to the inside. There is a 35.5" space between the door and the closet door frames (currently where the drawer is sitting).

The colour does not represent the colour of the furniture, it just makes things easier to see due to the way I created the diagram. I have a photoshop file with layers if anyone would like to rearrange the furniture in that method.

Thanks and I look forward to the suggestions!

You might find a room planner a useful tool for your planning.

    http://www.havertys.com/furniture/room-planner

It's an interactive tool that allows you to input your room measurements, furniture measurements, windows and doors, the room needed for the doors to open etc.,

I've used it a lot over time, and found it extremely useful!

Move the desk to where the bookshelf is,,eliminate the bookshelf and use wall shelving above the desk. then you have more room for the bedside table and that area to the right of the bed is not as crowded !!

Your room is approximately 9 feet by 11 feet.

You state that the bed-side table must be in the upper left corner of the room, not as diagrammed? Then put the head of the bed on the left wall.

Put the desk on the left wall between the bed and the closet. Since the closet door is a sliding one you can still get into it easily. If that desk is as large as it appears to be, a smaller desk would also go a long way to giving the room a less crowded feeling.

Put the dresser on the right wall. Plenty of room to keep the opened door from hitting it and makes the room easy to enter.

Put the bookshelf where the dresser is. Or bookshelves on the wall above the desk is a good floor space saver.

    We think alike.
Thats what I said Toni,,it would help with the floor space issue. When you can`t go out,,go up!
