Here is the biggest toad I have ever seen My front steps need to be replaced and when I moved them there he was.
Carolyn, I love him. Can I have him? He is a very special toad...Bet he has done a great job getting rid of lots of bugs around your steps.
I could do with having him here as the slugs and snails are appearing all over the garden. He can even bring his family too - the more the merrier.

Carolyn, while I was picking beans this morning, I found a toad sitting under one of the leaves, just enjoying the morning cool. I told him I had seen a photo of one of his cousins on Garden Stew, and I'd happily take his photo if he'd wait while I got the camera. He obviously wasn't interested since he just hopped off. Perhaps his relatives aren't in Ohio?
No idea Jane but there were many itty bitty toads out and about yesterday. Sjoerd, that is one frightening toad.
I wish I could find some of his relatives but in all the years we've live here I haven't seen a toad or frog. Must get too cold in the winter.
Our property here in Massachusetts had no toads when we moved in. Plenty of frogs but no toads. Our old house across town had plenty of toads though so we knew the toads were indigenous. So one summer many years ago my kids & I caught a bunch of baby toads from our farm in western NY state & released them here. Probably not Kosher, but that is what we did. We now see the odd toad hopping about. But none nearing the grandeur of your Big Daddy, Carolyn.
