Help with the identification of this plant. We thought we bought it but is seems like a weed...

It was a large gallon pot size plant when we first saw it but now it is about 6 feet by 4 feet area and is 18 inches tall....has flowered every year but we don't remember what the flower looks like. It is getting ready to bloom now...

You are welcome. I felt stupid after you posted the flowers. Box elder beetles will ruin the foliage if you have them in your area.
Mine are singles. You look to have a double petaled variety.

Well I'm impressed Carolyn! And yes it might just be a double Japanese Anenome. I have a single.I have never seen the double. Carolyn, I was clueless about it even with the photo. My foliage looks different, more serated & darker. But I suppose there are different anenomes. The bloom time is right...late summer. And the color is right too, pink with a yellow center. Good call Carolyn!
