I just found this forum and it looks informative and friendly! I am a native Floridian and a gardening fanatic. Right now I have overwhelmed myself with plumeria (frangipani) which took a big hit with hurricane Ida. I love my herb garden and basically just having a cozy welcoming yard. I am a 2 time breast cancer survivor- yippppeeee! Oh! And I have 2 yorkies and 4 cats.

Welcome! This forum is very informative and friendly, and we love to help fellow gardeners.
We are in central Texas with herbs, vegetables, flowers, and two kittens (a gift from a feral cat who had her kittens under our workshop).
Please feel free to post pictures of Yorkies, cats, herbs, plumerias, and anything else you want.
    You'll like it here!

Hi and welcome to GardenStew from north central Texas.
I lived for 5 years in West Palm Beach where I swear you can stick a toothpick into the dirt and watch it sprout leaves

I am a four, going into five, year colon cancer surviver and found that there is nothing like gardening to help you get your life back to normal (or in my case the weirdness in our family that passes for normal)

Yep, photos are almost a requirement here so get you camera ready.

Hi there from N E Texas ! Glad you still have a garden after Irma went through the state.
I am into edibles more than flowers,, although I do have a few. We have a few roadside finds and almost all are 60 lbs+ ! Had to pick up the smallest one today after surgery for bladder stones ( Sugar). Have no idea what breed she is but the large ones are a lab, German shepherd, Scottish deer hound (as far as we can tell) and a shepherd cross. And a pit cross we just call the little red monster (Missy). Also one cat that moved in under our house and 6 horses !

Hello and a warm welcome from the Idaho mountains! I do hope your plumerias recover from the hurricane damage. They have such beautiful flowers. Of course they won't grow where I live, but I have seen them. I only have one small dog that is very timid but thinks she rules her humans!

Hi Cyberageous and a warm welcome to GardenStew :hi: My first thought was to ask if you have suffered much property damage from Ida?
You will have a great time here, jump on in!

Good morning everyone! I am humbled by the warm and friendly welcome! I am still cleaning up after Hurricane Irma.I'm almost done with the mess in the backyard. The damage to the plants will take long time to heal but I did end up getting a wonderful surprise when my "Sentational" plumeria broke in half and thankfully the top half didn't blow away. I hadn't planned on cutting it until next year but now I have 2! Other broken plants that are rootable, I have tried to give away but today I sadly have to cut down damages Ti plants. Not the American kind but the big, beautiful Hawaiian ones. The leaves are broad enough to cook with. (Lau-Lau). I wish people here knew what they were- I have to put them out for bulk trash and it saddens me.
Altho my breast cancer is gone, it has come back twice so I have to stay on meds and even with insurance, co-pays for a specialist is expensive so I bought MANY types of plumeria seeds, grew them and now sell the plants to cover my co-pays. AND what a great way to meet people! Plant people are great!
When we moved into this house, we had absolutely no landscaping except weeds and a huge tree out front. We have been here 3 years now and I can say my paradise is coming along fine!
I tried to do a panoramic view of the backyard (pre Ida) and here it is:

I found a beautiful pic of a ti plant before Hurricane Ida. The storm tore it up but it'll grow back rapidly. Ti Plant for Craigs list.jpg

In Hawaii, Ti leaves are extremely important. They are used for medicine, ceremonial dance and cooking.
