We finished up our Alaska cruise with a stop in Victoria. Although neither of us was much into walking, I took a few photos and the weather was perfect These photos are only of the dahlia and main gardens. Maybe a few Stewbies would be interested in seeing what was blooming yesterday. Sorry no names, just ideas for me for later, for scent, for eye candy or just because... Beautiful Jewell! Great way to end a trip! My husband & I went to Butchart Gardens some 10 years ago. I hope to go back! It was drizzling on & off throughout our visit. No matter, we still strolled around, taking in the sites. There were containers of umbrellas everywhere. You grabbed an umbrella when you needed one, then drooped it off when the rain stopped. Very convenient.
What a beautiful place! And one I've always wanted to see. Thank you for posting the photo's. I will have to admit that one of the things that popped into my mind was...wow, can you imagine the amount of dead-heading they do! That's one of my least favorite jobs in my garden.

I saw 5 gardeners the morning we were there doing maintenance in just the two gardens we visited. The gentleman in the dahlia garden probably lived there. Everything was immaculate so there must be an army of gardeners. The number of visitors morning of middle week was almost overwhelming. This was our second visit. Would love to go in winter when quieter. Philip your little garden has some of these elements for sure. CM, the umbrella urns were thankfully empty this day. We'd visited in early spring the first time so had mainly the structure of the garden. This was so much more full and colorful. Hope you make another visit.
The snail fountain and more. If anyone knows what this yellow blooming plant/bush is I'd love to know. The fragrance was lovely and late bloomers are always appreciated. I want to replicate this pot for my patio. Last of the Bucharest Garden photos.
Love the snail fountain,..very unusual,..the dragon would need to be in a big garden,..of course i am thinking,..could i have it and all those beautiful blooms in my own garden . So Jewell,..you are going to replicate that pot for your patio,..its impressive,..all of it,..what is that tall plant?. Hi Jewell, that beautiful golden plant is none other than Goldenrod!! I suspect it is a cultivated variety as it is splendiferous! (How's that for a word?) That huge plant in the pot is an elephant ear: Alocasia. I think it actually grows from a bulb. I have grown them in pots but have had trouble keeping the tuber alive during winter dormancy. I suspect you could do it in the NW. That dragon fountain is amazing as are the dahlias & the hakonecloa grass!!
Splendid ,.. recognition of that Goldenrod Cayuga Morning plus the Elephant Ear,..the latter name did enter my head but i was thrown off as i once grew an Elephant Ear,..stems were similar but leaf less veined,..isn't that hakonecloa grass something special.
Yes I love that hakonecloa glass, it is a good big stand of it. RE the elephant ear, I think there are different plants, all called elephant ear, but are not related. I think. I actually prefer the kind you grew that is not so deeply veined.
Philip, if by spring I get my gardening act together the two separate cedar trees I have potted will be given new homes and I will attempt recreating only one pot. I am scaling back on pots and attempting to lessen my work load, so time will tell. CM, guess I will have to pass on the goldenrod. It's invasive here and I've planted way too many varieties I've had to remove. Sure did smell wonderful though. Kildare, lucky you to live so close to the gardens. Both times we've been our time was too short. A seasons pass would be lovely, but I am not sure I could do the large groups on a regular basis. Definitely a national treasure though.

Such beautiful gardens! I am so glad you took such great pictures as I will probably never get a chance to get there myself. I loved the snail fountain and the dragon but the flowers and color combinations sure caught my eye!
