A couple of Turkey vultures down at the lagoon today. One must be a young one as it doesn't have the red head.

Great shot! I have a little family of turkey vultures living near me. I see them every day on my dog walk.

My husband & I encountered some up in Acadia.....yes they are ugly as sin, poor things. They make quite an impression though....even if you have never seen one before, you immediately know what they are.

Ugly is as ugly does, and without the vultures we would be knee-deep in roadkill here in Texas! The vultures clean up all sorts of corpses, and keep the roads and fields relatively clean. They may not be beautiful, but they sure are useful.
