Likes to grow near water, here pictured creek-side. First photo was last week, this week it is putting out tiny flowers. Any ideas on this one? Thanks.

It looks like a bloom should pop open any day. You're documenting it well. Somebody should recognize it eventually.

Nate,..i am sure Carolyn is correct,..'Aster',..of the pale color.

My own Asters are in bud at present and the foliage is pretty much the same,..though my blooms will be blue.

I see Smilax bona-nox leaves at the bottom of the last pic, but can't think of a name for the primary plant. LOL!

:) Very similar leaf markings has the 'Smilax bona-nox',..which has many names,.. but the one i like is 'Tramps Trouble',..the section of leaf you see belongs to 'Pulmonaria officinalis 'Lungworth',..that's it below in another location of my garden,..both those plants have green leaves with spots,..not easy to pick one from the other when seeing just a portion.

To those who are just reading this post, it somehow got off topic. Please look at my original photo. Am still looking for an I.D. on this plant. Thanks to all.

What is your hope for this plant Nate? Do you want an ID to help you decide whether to keep it or ditch it?

    Friends,
Yes, Carolyn was right, it is an aster. When it first bloomed, I was holding out for Fleabane, but my reference books have convinced me: aster. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. Here's what they look like now.

Nice splash of color there Nate,..when its all in bloom it will be very impressive,..it has a dark eye which enhances it.
