Our home renovation works starts the next month. Prior to that, we have to move the furniture and other stuff. We initially thought to move the furniture to a self-storage unit. But the furniture is old and the leather looks like it is going to tear out. You guys know that leather furniture is not good to hold for years. So, we decided to sell it and buy a new sofa to our living room. Now our concern is how to sell the furniture. Buying a furniture is an easy task. They are many furniture stores available here and we can pick one from them. But the selling process seems to be bit difficult. Do you guys know any companies who buy old furniture? I don't want to dump the furniture into the recycling bin. So if you people know any dealers, please let me know.

Around here there are a few furniture restorers who are happy to take old pieces off your hands. They strip them and re-upholster them for sale. However, they don't pay much for the furniture you give them - if at all. Putting furniture into auctions sometimes works but again you won't get much for it.

There are a few on-line sites specific to certain neighborhoods in cities where you can list what you have and someone might buy it from you. As far as retailers who buy old furniture, you would have to check out some places like Antique Malls.....they are not only 'antiques' but also have vendors who rent a space in the 'store' where they sell items that they have collected when buying from some individuals, thrift stores or yard sales. Look up Antique Mall in your city on Google to see what is around you. Other wise, if the pieces are in good enough condition for someone to get more use from, you could just donate it to Salvation Army, GoodWill or some other charity thrift store.

I have sold lot's of things on CL=craigs list all to local folks in my town, who I always have phone me first. Also do you have a Nextdoor website for your area, we do and folks are selling stuff like crazy on there. On either one add pics. it really helps.

Could you possibly post a pic of the leather furniture ? If it is actual leather and not faux leather,,you might be surprised at what some decorators do with the older stuff ! Check ebay for prices and list it as "pick up only" ! Yes,, Craigslist is good but you have to be careful. Never have anyone come to your house unless you have someone with you ! And do not fall for the scam emails and calls !

@SuzieQ07 you have a Nextdoor website? Our town does too & I love it! Actually I think the whole town loves it. All kinds of stuff gets posted on it, stuff for sale, stuff to give away, missing dogs, announcements, requests for recommendations, etc. It feels very safe because it is limited to our town only. I give a lot of perennial divisions away that way. I just put a post up: 'foxglove seedlings available in cart at end of my driveway' & townsfolk scarf them up!
What are your experiences with Nextdoor?
