Yikes over the weekend we had over 20 inches of snow. I feel so sorry for the animals. Here is a flock of Red Wing Black birds that has shown up to eat the cracked corn we put out. We also have turkey, deer, and crows that help themselves. At our feeders in the front yard we have several Song Sparrows and chipping sparrows that must think that they are in a night mare with all this snow.
I had to feed our birds twice a day when we had lots of snow. We had Fieldfares and Mistle thrushes in the garden. Both species are never usually seen so close to human habitation. Let's hope your weather improves for all your feathered friends.
The birds are very unhappy with the recent weather here too. I have 2 Kildeer that huddle on the only bare patch in the yard ... where the sump pump has been running alot. Feel sorry for all the birds that have just migrated back to this horrid weather!
What a sight ! All that snow really is making it difficult for animals to find food. You are an angel for putting stuff our for them all.
Wow, snow is melting at a quick pace. There is even some little patches of green grass. Our Gold finches are turning yellow already. Odd to see them sporting their summer colors this soon. We have a Purple Finch stop at one of our feeders. First one I've seen this year. He was pretty hungry so I figured he must have been a new arrival in the area and needed refueling. Hope he sticks around for the summer.
