This foto shows a a metal box hung on the wall just outside a restaurant here. There are two holes in it where one can put their cigarette butts into. The sign asks folks not to throw there butts in because there is a nest inside. I tried and tried to get a foto of the parents coming and going, but alas.....
cute. It is amazing to see where birds decide to make a nest. I had a bag of dragoon dust for the garden... a wren made a nest inside of the bag. she managed to get one little fledgling out of it.
To me it looks like a perfect place for a nest...I had a house finch build a nest in one of my wreaths on the front porch...
Each year we have an ongoing battle with barn swallows, who want to build a nest right over our front door, and in the cross bars of the carport. Messy, and I'm not referring to the bits of grass and nesting material!
