I planted 2 new snowball viburnum trees (about 2 feet high at the time) in late April. They looked so healthy, were watered regularly and seemed to be fine but not really growing all summer. The past month, the leaves are wilting, thinning and are being eaten by something. The trunk area has no growth at all. There are completely bare small branches- they both are doing this. I have never had these before and am not sure what to do. Thank you!

The lack of growth is nothing to be concerned about, it takes 6 months to a year for tree roots to get settled into a new home and while they are doing that there will be no growth above ground it's all going on below ground.
How often do you water them...usually once a week with a good soaking is fine unless you have a very hot Summer.
Too much water will cause the leaves to wilt also.
Are they in full sun? They will take full sun to part shade.
