I am frugal, and also do a lot of cooking. I've found the 2" cheap paint brush sold at Harbor Freight to be a great baster. I use it, put it in the dishwasher, let it air dry, and use it several times. The only caveat is when it is brand-new, just out of the plastic cover, you need to give it a good beating against your hand to remove all loose hairs.
When the brushes were on sale I bought a small box of them and still have four or five left after two years.
Hurrah for cheap, hurrah for basting with turkey season coming up!

Mart, I too like the 1" ones, especially for glazing doughnuts and sweet rolls.
We frugal gals have to stick together, what with all the ads for expensive kitchen gadgets that we get bombarded with.
(My husband says I'm so frugal that I toss nickels around like manhole covers!)
