Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV. The most British thing of all? . . . . The suspicion of anything foreign!!!!!!!!!
I love this quote from King Edward VIII: What impresses me most about America is the way parents obey their children." I've always admired the British--their precision with language, their stoicism, and their dry sense of humor. Whatever it is to be British, it's working!
To our defense...King Edward VIII only associated with the upper crust whose children are more likely to be spoiled and bossy. If he had come in contact with the common people he would have had a different opinion of us and our children.
