Sugar Snaps. Any heirloom/open pollinated variety of said pea. Edible pods are like candy. If you let them go too long, harvest them as shelling peas.

Those are what we in the southern US grow ! You would likely consider it a bean ! Thats why I said above that our peas are different from yours ! Are you familiar with black eye peas ? Many consider them livestock food but not here !
The article you linked to is a good one ! They are one of the easiest vegetables to grow and are excellent producers ! They also affix nitrogen to the soil ! If you try them always get the quick pick bush type,, not the vine type ! You will love them !

Purple Hulls are related to Black eyed peas. Black eyed peas are a staple in our pantry

I had black eyed peas and turnip greens with smoked sausage. On New Years day its traditional to have pork, greens and rice with black eyed peas.

    Yay...!

Actually, Mart, we did not have Black Eyed peas for New Years. Many years ago we changed the foretelling of good luck from New Years to our wedding anniversary....starting with our 20th anniversary we have SPAM and Black Eyed peas for dinner that evening and so far that ritual has brought us much love and peace in each year of our life together.

Sounds good to me ! I have never heard of the rice thing ! Just the blackeyes,, hog jowel,, and greens ! We had cabbage for the greens ! Hubby doesn`t like turnip greens !

Well, Toni spam is pork,, guess it works too ! I substituted bacon for the hog jowel because you can`t get really good salt pork anymore ! Hope you and Evil Roy have many more good years together !
