Ha ! How did that happen ? I use either the little index cards from the dollar store or just cut them from the newspaper ! Then I tape them in one of the journals also from the dollar store ! Then if the recipe is not one I want to keep,, the tape easily peels off and the recipe can be replaced ! Some of the recipes sound good on paper,, not so good on the plate !
Mart I used to cook regular hot meals besides cakes but when I met hubby...he refused me and told me after having food poisoning years ago, he liked cooking his own meals..twice I asked him and in the end I said get on with it
He sounds a bit like me ! I enjoy cooking,, its sort of an art form ! I like creating it ! May not follow any recipe and rarely use one,, but if you like good old southern comfort food,, come to my house ! We never go out and eat ! I know my food is safe,, do not know about others ! Too many recalls and contaminated vegetables !
Hello mart, he got it from chicken and ended up in hospital but I've known him do right concoctions and they've turned out lovely in flavour ...we used to go out at the end of each month and have a meal but not no more, we've found prices stupid and hardly anything for the money on the plate.
@Petronius a recipe on kitchen towel? that's a gr8 idea! something short and sweet like some simple cookie. I don't use recipe cards, I always just use whatever is available in the fridge, and prepare it in one of a couple different methods, every once in a while there's a dish that turns out crazy good, and other times not so good... I do mostly all the cooking and I strive to make dishes that can feed everyone and require little effort / time. my GF on the other hand, when she cooks, she uses a recipe, and slaves in the kitchen for hours!(sometimes) of course it always comes out gr8 and she likes to think shes the better cook, and i let her think that.
I either cut recipes out of magazines, newspapers, print from online sources or write down ones that interest me. They go in binders. Every year I fthrow out the ones that I never got round to or didn't impress me. Most stay in binders but some that become favourites, get taped on the inside of cupboard doors. And those get edited too.
