    Hi all,

Sorry for the outage today. The server company that hosts GardenStew had a hardware failure which they resolved within an hour or so. However due to the abrupt failure of the server hardware the site database got corrupted and could not be accessed. I tinkered around with backups and other technical stuff and was finally able to get the database back online to the exact state before the hardware failed. I'm happy there was no data lost as it was looking like we would lose a week's worth of data there for a while

It brings to light the importance of backing up your precious data. Hardware can fail at any time. If there were no backups in today's incident we would have lost 14 years worth of discussion  Ghastly.

I hope everything is back to normal now. If you see anything strange please let me know. Thanks for your patience Stewbies! :stew2:

Frank, when I saw that the Stew was down, I thought you were doing this intentionally to remind us how much we like, depend on, and enjoy the Stew.
No "good day thread"? No great advice from fellow gardeners? No recipes? No news from gardeners planting and harvesting from around the world? No caption contest? Disaster!!!
Glad you got it fixed without losing 14 years of valuable information. Thank you for your diligence:sete_005:.

Actually I got a mental picture of Frank pulling out his hair and screaming into a phone at someone...anyone...who works for the server company.

No screaming Toni, just a lot of facepalming

MG, I thought about returning us to 2009 so that we could all feel 10 years younger.

Thanks for everything you do for us Frank. I felt as though part of me was missing when I couldn't be here. Now everything is as it should be again. :smt041:smt041

I have been coming here almost every day for a long while. Maybe the 10 years. I don't have a garden now but I still come and read posts. Thank you, Frank for letting me enjoy gardening when I don't have a garden anymore. dooley.
