Hello! the seedlings are coming along nicely as you can see below: But I didn't label everything and i hope someone can help ID some of these seedlings which I have no clue what they might be. These ones are TINY and i think its some kind of weed that was in the cheap potting mix::
First one is hairy mouseear chickweed or something like that. Second one looks to be creeping rosemary Third one looks to be a snapdragon. It looks like it got pinched early on. The stem doesnt look thin enough to me to be chickweed. I could be wrong though. I don't think purslane for the third one just because it is too stemmy long. Purslane tends to hug the ground with very short fat stems... But under grow lights it might grow differently due to light.
I didn't plant any of these things tho. is it possible one of them is thyme? or oregano? i think i should try thyme and oregano again and see if something similar pops out. this point, i'm thinking all three of these are weeds. one thing is forsure, i'm never buying dollar store potting mix again.
smell the one with the needle like foliage. it should be very fragrant. just rub the leaf with your fingers... you should notice its pungent smell immediately. don't toss that one if you like rosemary. otherwise pass it along. if you didn't plant any of those things then maybe that last one is chickweed.
Good idea. spend a couple extra bucks on better quality material. and not miracle grow. trust me. I have never had an issue with jiffy. I usually use commercial quantity bales. if you can find Baccto its a quality material but at times it has a few too many large pieces of woody material. better grow, promix... all quality materials. I also add perlite to my mix when I am potting up, too. I find most blends are still a little too heavy.
Rosemary or Lavender, possibly? I pulled Purslane from the garden for years. It is however edible. I tried it once, too slimy cooked, but it might be good as an addition to salad. Wild plants, if we're positive we know what they are, are quite nutritious. I have picked wild Mustard, Dandelion greens, Poke. Still I feel safer eating what I grow.
