Mostly. I have a little left. Sure beats digging and the ashes and charcoal are brilliant for our 5pH clay.

Goes anyone use Row covers to keep insects out?
I dread the dreaded Cabbage moth and wondered if Row covers are worth the cost.

@Growingpains I use row covers all the time. In the spring to protect new transplants from too much sun or pelting rains. Also to protect from frost. Later in the season to protect from insect damage. I find it works well for a while: my veggies are pest free longer than the others in the community garden. Eventually though, those pesky bugs find mine! Partly it is that the growing plants push the row cover up. Maybe I get more & more careless about securing the edges. Who knows. Maybe I need a high tunnel. Maybe @carolyn wI'll give us her opinion here.

Today I rehabbed a perennial bed. It was what I thought of as my "holding tank". IE, the place to deposit plants, divisions, seedlings, etc that I don't know what to do with. You can imagine the chaos after 5 years of this ( I lie, it might be more like 10).
I spent about three hours (my husband would tell you it was four) rehabbing this bed. Pulling out a dogwood tree & finally planting it in its (hopefully ) final location, dividing a peony that has never bloomed in 10 years (last chance Mr Peony), etc.

Gail, thanks and Cayuga thank you too. I used garlic spray for years, but last year, the moths and green worms ignored it. I used sheer curtain material. The moths found a way under. I have time to think about it.

Try thyme oil. Its a hot oil so be careful, but it is more pungent than garlic oil, more powerful as an antifungal and as an insect repellant.

    DAA89FB3-1C6F-4ED9-8647-DE532F05A61C.jpeg I did this.

I was on top of a stepladder cutting above my head with a chainsaw and a strimmer.

This is a garden table. It sat outside for ten years before sanding and varnishing. DF7BEEAD-3AF4-4BB0-BBC4-5EF9A39B7A14.jpeg B51927F3-8038-436A-8D9E-F69D5451B117.jpeg
Aside from this I did a 140 km round trip and watered my tunnels.

Table looks great Odif. You are a busy guy. Thst alleyway looks so much better, but oh my, you were on a stepladder with a chainsaw, cutting stuff OVER YOUR HEAD??!!!
I think my capital letters say it all. Your wife must have been having a heart attack.

Use Bt (aka dipel) dust or liquid, as available, to use for cabbage loopers. It is a natural bacteria that once a looper eats a bite of it their gut feels full and they quit feeding. it is harmless to mammals and other insects. makes for a much easier management of the pest than trying to cover plants.

    odif, your table looks great!

Thanks Carolyn and Cayuga. I am happy with the table. It is about 30 years ago that the table was treated. It is made from Teak.
    Today clearing branches and rubbish.

Today, nothing:D Am a bit sore and tired from yesterday’s mad “trailing the bind weed” to its source. Moved a heavy timber and several large rocks that will need to be repositioned but will take the day off. My excuse is rain  (even though it seldom slows me down:setc_025:).
