I like their cool crispness, especially when the dog days of summer hit.

I agree...daisies are really nice. But I am pretty fickle. The smell of phlox and lilies are beginning to take over the garden:D:D:D

I like daisies, would love to have peonies but our climate isn't conducive to peony growing, and lilies, we have a few. However, I am not fickle. I am a steadfast rose admirer. I adore roses and have grown them for over 40 years. My dear husband has never given me a bouquet of cut roses--he brings me a potted rose to add to the garden!

You ain't fickle....you just wanna ride yer motor-cickle.

I am wild about daisies. I had a large stand for several years, but they have disappeared now. Funny you would create this thread, as my Bride just said to me two days ago that she would like them again. I shall have to try and find some of the taller ones.

    Your daisies look smashing, mate.

Thanks SJ. There is something about their very cool crisp whiteness that lightens a hot summer day. And they glow at night! Good luck procuring some. If we lived close, I'd dig you up a patch.

Cayu, I know exactly what you mean about the "glowing" in the dusky evening hours. We often stay very late in the lottie and come home at midnight or later. It is nice to see the "white spots" during this time. My Bride especially likes this.

So wait, @Sjoerd, don't you bike to and fro to the lottie? In the dark?

You are right Cayu--I do bike to and fro to the lottie ...except when I have to transport big loads. Of course we bike in the night-time here and most of the bike paths are lit with street-lights as well. We have modern bikes over here that have lights affixed to the frame though. ;) The lights work when engaged and the bike rolls. You can also buy special lights that one clicks on and off and they are battery-powered but can cost one a lot of money.
It is a law here that all bikes, mopeds, motorcycles and so forth must have lighting fore and aft.

Yes, Daisy's are lovely! I currently have a few clumps in bloom, and I agree ... they add a 'cool crispness' to the garden.
