The season began with a daylily from seed named Summer Solstice bracketing the solstice with flowers on the 20th and the 22nd. Close enough! The season has progressed with about 30 opening up so far. That leaves about 15 more to flower. I did notice some without scapes:(. I did have one unusual new from seed flower. My first double daylily :). While it will not win any prizes it is my first double. Years ago it was left in an old bed while the rest of the seeds from that year were transplanted elsewhere. About 9 to 10 years ago....this year it decided to flower.

First double here. I will look to see if any of the other buds have opened... Yep the second bud opened, second bud. The only double daylily in the yard is called Dashing Double. A yellow self with a red center, I suppose that is one of the parents with perhaps an orange other parent. Of the hundreds of seeds I have planted this is the first double. Interesting territory.
